Our Story
STUK CIC is a women’s health and wellbeing organisation reducing barriers to healthier, happier lives through community-led physical activity and therapeutic wellness interventions. Founded in 2022 by a therapeutic community social worker, our work centres women living in urban environments who are disproportionately affected by chronic health conditions due to social, economic and environmental inequalities. We deliver accessible movement-based programmes—grounded in strength training, nutrition, nature and community connection—that support both physical and mental wellbeing, building brain–body resilience and long-term health. Our approach responds directly to gaps in traditional services, including long waiting times, culturally irrelevant provision and models that separate physical and mental health or place responsibility solely on the individual. By combining practical knowledge, supportive environments and community-centred experiences, STUK CIC empowers women to take control of their immediate and long-term wellbeing while strengthening collective health and resilience.

Our Roots
Urban living communities
STUK CIC began in Hackney, working with inner-city women in an area experiencing high levels of multiple deprivation and significant pressure on local health services due to underinvestment in community-led provision. Our programmes are designed to support early intervention and empower women to take the lead on their health and wellbeing, and we are now expanding this work to Southwark to reach more women facing similar inequalities.
Our Target Group
Underactive Women
We specialise in co-producing programmes with women most affected by health inequalities including those who are underactive, living with chronic health conditions and facing additional barriers to being active due to marginalisation or inequality. By working closely with women from the local community, we design and deliver women-focused interventions that are accessible, relevant and responsive to real-life challenges, supporting sustainable and confidence-building engagement in movement.

Affected Communities
Women of Colour
As an organisation led by women of colour, we understand how culture shapes experiences of movement, health and wellbeing. Our programmes are designed by women of colour and informed by cultural practices and norms, creating supportive spaces that help more women live happier, healthier lives in ways that feel relevant and affirming.
Our Niche
Strength Building Exercise
We recognise the powerful, two-way relationship between mental and physical strength. Through accessible, strength-based exercises such as weightlifting, we support women to build brain–body resilience, improve confidence and experience both immediate and long-term health benefits, regardless of age, background or starting point.

Reducing barriers
The socio-economics of exercise
We recognise that cost and time are some of the biggest barriers to movement and wellbeing. Our programmes are designed to be low- or no-cost and accessible, removing financial barriers while equipping women with the skills and confidence to continue movement and wellness practices independently over the long term.
Legacy and Sustainability
Skills, Knowledge & Confidence
Each course is designed with a clear focus on impact and sustainability. Through short- to long-term programmes, we build women’s skills, knowledge and confidence to support lasting lifestyle change, encouraging movement and wellbeing beyond our sessions while fostering supportive community networks that women can continue to draw on over time.

Holistic Health
The Brain & The Body
Our approach to health recognises that meaningful change happens when mental and physical health are supported together. All of our programmes take a whole-person approach, strengthening both body and mind through practical learning around movement, nutrition, sleep, breathing, environment and therapeutic practice.
Freedom From Harm
Addressing The Impact Of Trauma & Abuse
We know that mental health challenges are one of the leading causes of ill health in the UK and disproportionately affect the women we work with. Our programmes are designed to support women experiencing mental health challenges by building physical and emotional resilience, encouraging nutritional changes that support brain–body health, reducing isolation through community connection, and providing accessible, therapeutic spaces led by qualified mental health practitioners.
